Tanzania is accelerating its industrialization agenda through the establishment of five strategically located Special Economic Zones (SEZs). These zones are designed to attract both local and foreign investment by offering incentives, infrastructure, and access to key markets. Each SEZ is tailored to leverage regional strengths and national development goals.

1. Nala SEZ – Dodoma (607 Hectares)

Located approximately 21 km northwest of Dodoma city along the Dodoma–Singida highway, Nala SEZ is strategically positioned to serve as a logistics hub connecting central Tanzania to East and Southern Africa. The zone is in close proximity to the Standard Gauge Railway, enhancing its connectivity.

Investment Potential:

  • Free industrial plots to attract investors.
  • Priority sectors include agriculture value addition, FMCG, textiles and clothing, pharmaceuticals, motor vehicle manufacturing and assembly, spare parts, paper products, rubber products, and simple machinery.

2. Kwala SEZ – Coast Region (40.5 Hectares)

Situated in the Coast Region, Kwala SEZ is designed to decongest the Dar es Salaam Port by providing an alternative logistics hub. The zone is strategically connected to major infrastructure, including power supply and dry ports, facilitating efficient trade and industrial activities.
